Principles of Interior Design – Explore the core design principles and elements that create visually appealing spaces. These principles serve as guidelines to help students create dynamic and functional visual layouts for their clients, striking a balance between aesthetics and functionality.

Colour Theory – Colour theory provides practical guidance on interpreting and understanding the effects of colour schemes. It establishes a logical structure for colour combinations and encompasses various concepts, definitions, and design applications. On day 1, you will explore factors that influence colour, primary, secondary, and tertiary colours, colour psychology, descriptors for each colour, and more.

Interior Design Styles – Explore various interior design styles, starting with the latest trends of the year before learning about 14 distinct styles such as Art Deco, Contemporary, Eclectic, Industrial, Scandinavian, and more. Each style will be explored through descriptive analysis and visual references during day 1.

Flooring – As the first point of physical contact in a space, flooring plays a vital role in design. It is essential to grasp the unique characteristics and aesthetic impacts of different flooring types. On day 2, you will cover crucial factors in flooring selection, assess the pros and cons of various styles, identify design styles that complement each type, explore recoating and refinishing techniques, determine suitable rooms for installation, and delve into other relevant topics.

Furniture – Explore various furniture styles, including sofas, armchairs, accent chairs, and more. Discover the most appropriate furniture styles for different interior design styles, equipping you with the knowledge to source furniture for your projects. Ponder key considerations when sourcing furniture and explore the option of custom-made furniture.

Walls – During day 2 of the program, we will examine various paint finishes and discuss their respective benefits and drawbacks when painting a room. Additionally, we’ll explore the latest colour trends and designs that align with different interior design styles. Furthermore, we will delve into the topics of wallpaper, baseboard moulding, beams, and paneling to provide a comprehensive understanding of these elements.

Colour Consultations – Choosing the right colour palette can breathe new life into your client’s home and elevate its energy. Providing colour consultations and delivering written reports is a valuable service for your customers. In this program, you will master the art of conducting colour consultations, ensuring the selection of the perfect wall colour that aligns with your clients’ preferred interior design style. We will cover essential discussion points with clients and equip you with considerations as a Decorator and ReDesigner when offering recommendations and suggestions to your clients.

Windows – Window treatments serve both aesthetic and functional purposes, offering privacy, noise reduction, and control over natural light. They also act as insulators, regulating indoor temperature throughout the seasons. On day 2, we will delve into important considerations when selecting window treatments. We will explore four primary categories of window treatments, including blinds, shades, shutters, and drapery.

Lighting – Lighting is important for both function and style in interior spaces. Factors like room size, wall colour, and room purpose affect lighting needs. Lighting can completely change the atmosphere of a room. In this course, we’ll cover three main types of lighting: ambient, accent and task lighting. You’ll learn how to choose the right lighting options for specific interior design styles.

Home Décor & Accents – Accessories are the finishing touch in design and play a crucial role in enhancing a space. Decorating involves considering proportion, style, symmetry, and balance. Accessories not only complete a space but also bring it together.

On day 3, we’ll focus on using accessories to elevate a space. We’ll explore elements like accent cushions, area rugs, bedding, gallery walls, mirrors, table accents, throws, and more. Visual examples will be provided to help you understand how to effectively incorporate accessories to improve the overall look and atmosphere of a space.

Decorating in Design Styles – Day 3 marks the start of a detailed exploration of decorating in different design styles, which will continue on day 4.

Budget – During day 4, we’ll focus on the important aspect of budgeting projects. As UDRC™ Certified Ultimate Decorators & ReDesigners™, your role is to provide practical solutions to clients. You’ll learn how to guide clients in allocating their funds effectively and keeping the budget on track. We’ll take a realistic approach to budgeting, helping clients make informed decisions and avoid financial pitfalls.

Key topics include establishing a budget, two budgeting methods for ReDesign projects, communicating with clients when their desires exceed the budget, and more.

One-Day Room Makeovers – One-day room makeovers are ideal for homeowners looking for immediate transformations. These makeovers offer a budget-friendly solution by incorporating existing furniture and adding new pieces. You’ll gain the skills to efficiently facilitate one-day makeovers within a limited timeframe to maximize impact.

Bathroom & Kitchen ReDesign – On day 5, we will focus on redesigning the bathroom and kitchen. We’ll cover important aspects like layout, countertops, flooring, appliances, and more. We’ll also discuss functionality, addressing client needs and involving subcontractors.

Business & Marketing – Learn essential business insights for successful decorating and redesigning. Topics include business techniques, branding, pricing, and fundamental principles for success in the industry.

This segment empowers you with confidence and best practices to achieve your goals in establishing a Decorating and ReDesign business or securing employment in the industry.
